Attention Graduate Students:

The CSEE Department maintains a number of electronic mailing lists. These are used to disseminate official announcements as well as to support various research groups. It is each graduate student's responsibility to subscribe to the mailing list that is relevant to their major: '''csee-grad-cs''', '''csee-grad-ce''', or '''csee-grad-ee'''. None of the other lists allow for self-subscriptions. Emails send to the parent lists csee-grad, csee-student, and csee will automatically propagate to the children lists csee-grad-cs, csee-grad-ce, and csee-grad-ee.

== Mailman 3 ==
The CSEE department is working to migrate the mailing list platform from Mailman 2 to Mailman 3. The new platform changes some of the relevant procedures. These are yet to be in-effect. As we make this transition; if you encounter any issues or have questions to not hesitate to reach out to [mailto:listmster@cs.umbc.edu listmaster@cs.umbc.edu]

=== Subscribing to a List ===
* Visit
lists2.cs.umbc.edu/mailman3/lists/'''[listname]'''.cs.umbc.edu/

* You have the choice of signing in with an account, which can be done with your existing UMBC account username and password. This has the added benefit of being able to manage your subscriptions all in one place. Some lists will allow you to subscribe without an account.

=== Managing your existing subscriptions ===
* Visit https://lists2.cs.umbc.edu/ and login.
* After logging in you can visit the lists tab to see what lists you are currently subscribed to and change your preferences and unsubscribe.

=== For List administrators ===
* Much of the configuration has stayed the same but instead of using an administrative password, just login to your account and you will be able to administer/moderate your lists depending on your role in the list.

=== Archives ===
* Archives are available for any list that has it enabled. You can view the archives for the lists you are apart of after logging in and visiting https://lists2.cs.umbc.edu/archives/
* These archives are fully searchable

== Mailman 3 ==

=== Subscribing to a List ===
* You have the choice of signing in with an account, which can be done with your existing UMBC account username and password. This has the added benefit of being able to manage your subscriptions all in one place. Some lists will allow you to subscribe without an account.

* You can add and remove yourself from these lists by the mechanism described below. Notify '''csee-listmaster''' AT '''csee''' DOT '''umbc''' DOT '''edu''' of any problems you can't resolve.
* Indentation shows inclusion, such as csee-grad, is defined as the union of '''csee-grad-cs''', '''csee-grad-ce''', and '''csee-grad-ee'''. So, if you are a graduate student in the CS program, you have been explicitly subscribed to '''csee-grad-cs''' and will by implicitly included in the lists csee-grad, csee-student and csee. One can not subscribe to the parent level lists.
* Lists (i.e. csee-undergrad-cs) have restictions on who is allowed to send mail through them (primarily because of their large size). Mail from unauthorized senders will be forwarded to the list administrator for approval.
* If you want to send mail to all CSEE graduate students, address it to '''csee-grad''' AT '''csee''' DOT '''umbc''' DOT '''edu'''.
