Mailman 3 Migration Notice

The CSEE department migrated to the Mailman 3 platform on March 19, 2026. All users should now use their UMBC SSO credentials to manage subscriptions. If you encounter issues, please contact listmaster@cs.umbc.edu.
If you are facing a Proxy Error when visiting https://lists.cs.umbc.edu please clear your cookies and site data for the domain. Visiting the website in a private browser is a temporary solution.

Mailing List Hierarchy

These lists are for departmental use only. You must be a registered user to post. The system uses a tree structure: subscribing to a "Leaf Node" (the most specific list) automatically includes you in all "Parent" lists above it. One cannot subscribe directly to parent-level lists.

  • csee : All CSEE faculty, staff, and students
    • csee-faculty : All CSEE faculty
      • csee-faculty-tt : Tenured or tenure-track faculty
      • csee-faculty-instructional : Full-time lecturers and instructors
      • csee-faculty-research : Research faculty
      • csee-faculty-adjunct : Adjunct faculty
      • csee-faculty-emeritus : Emeritus faculty
      • csee-faculty-affiliate : Research affiliate faculty
    • csee-staff : All CSEE staff
    • csee-student : All CSEE students
      • csee-undergrad : All CSEE undergraduates
        • csee-undergrad-cs : Undergraduates majoring in Computer Science
        • csee-undergrad-ce : Undergraduates majoring in Computer Engineering
      • csee-grad : All CSEE graduate students
        • csee-grad-cs : Graduate students in the CS program
        • csee-grad-ce : Graduate students in the CE program
        • csee-grad-ee : Graduate students in the EE program
        • csee-grad-assistants : CSEE graduate assistants (all programs)

Essential Policies

  • Graduate Student Responsibility: It is each graduate student's responsibility to subscribe to the specific mailing list relevant to their major (csee-grad-cs, csee-grad-ce, or csee-grad-ee).
  • Implicit Inclusion: Indentation shows inclusion. For example, csee-grad is the union of the CS, CE, and EE sub-lists. If you are subscribed to csee-grad-cs, you are automatically included in csee-grad, csee-student, and csee.
  • Posting Restrictions: Large lists have restrictions on who is allowed to send mail. Unauthorized mail will be held for administrator approval to prevent spam.
  • Standard Address Format: To reach a specific group, use the format [listname]@cs.umbc.edu.
