How to Use

The Xilinx Integrated Synthesis Environment (ISE) provided is version 14.7. Because this legacy software is no longer natively supported, it runs inside a VirtualBox virtual machine (VM).

Release information and official documentation can be found here: AMD ISE VM Documentation.

  • To start the software, use the Launch ISE shortcut on the Windows desktop. This will open the virtual machine, where you can access ISE and other related tools.
  • Warning: Files saved inside the VM will be lost when it is shut down. Additionally, if you log out or another user signs in, all unsaved files will be permanently deleted. Always save files before leaving the machine unattended for any period of time
  • To transfer files between the VM and the host system, use the synced folder:
    • On the VM desktop: the Xilinx drive on the desktop
    • On the Windows host: the Xilinx Temp Folder on the desktop
